The Other Side of Charity

So I wrote a book.  It wasn't ever intended for publication, really, except for friends and family, because it is so very personal.  However, I was convinced that it was a story and topic that needed telling.  So I talked to Deseret Book, the publisher owned by my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they were somehow persuaded to take on this no-name, first-time author.

The story is mine, and all that I learned from being on charity's receiving end through the death of two siblings, parents' divorce, and major health challenges.  The latter required me to undergo some unique and exquisitely painful therapy, but, gratefully, the kind that made me want to be a better person.  Through it all, I learned (and am still learning) that receiving gracefully is the beginning of gratitude, unity, and becoming charity ourselves as Christ's love is able to change and heal us.

The Other Side of Charity is available digitally here and here.  To get it in print, you either need to be my friend (I can sell another 19 copies to friends and family here via my self-publisher) or wait till digital sales do well enough for Deseret Book to print the thing.

If you have already read the book, please, please leave a review on either Amazon or Deseret Book, or on the book's Facebook page (forthcoming).  I'd love to have Deseret Book publish my book (mostly so I can write the next one)!

Here are a few posts about receiving or my experience writing and marketing the book:
